Darjeeling Tea is widely known as the finest tea or 'champagne of teas' because of its unique muscatel grape flavor that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world. This first flush Darjeeling (harvested in Spring) is from Castleton tea garden, a well-known tea estate in the Himalayan foothills of India. It has light body and light golden liquor with a hint of astringency and sweet after taste. Perfect as an afternoon tea.

 

Darjeeling tea is a tea from the Darjeeling region in India. It is available as black, white or oolong. Darjeeling Tea is widely known as the finest tea or ‘champagne of teas’ because of its unique muscatel grape flavor that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world.

 

Darjeeling has altogether three major flushes as follows:
• First Flush is harvested between mid-March to May. The color of tea is light and clear with bright liquor. The leaves have floral scent, with a lively character.
• Second Flush is harvested between June to mid-August. The tea has dark color and strong flavor in contrast to first flush teas. The tea leaves have purplish bloom and has a fruity taste generally.
• Third Flush or Autumn Flush is harvested from October to November. The tea color is dark or coppery and texture is full bodied but it has a lighter flavor. Autumn Darjeeling has a delicate as well as a sparkling character.

Steeping Suggestion: Use 1 tsp/ 8oz cup. Steep 3-4 minutes in 205 °F water

 

For iced tea, use double amount of tea and steep normally. Pour over ice to drink immediately or add an equal amount of room temperature water and store in refrigerator. To sweeten, add sugar, honey, or stir in a sugar stick while the tea is still hot.
